Lord Muruga Statue – Pure Sandalwood

This fine hand carved statue is made of pure sandalwood. Murugan, also known as Karthikeya is the son of Lord Shiva and the Goddess Parvathi. The esteemed brother of Murugan is Ganesha. Murugan rides a peacock, which is also the national bird of India. It symbolizes the destruction of harmful habits. The divine spear (Vel) represents Murugan’s far reaching protection of the people. Murugan is popularly worshipped in Southern India, especially in the state of Tamil nadu. He is considered to be the primary deity of the Kaumaram sect of Hinduism, located in the Tamil region, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
